The Intimate Journals of Charles Baudelaire

Hollywood: Marcel Rood, 1947. Very Good / Good. Item #11356

Hollywood: Marcel Rood, 1947. First Thus. Octavo; 128pp. Printed dust jacket with $3.00 price intact; book in brown cloth with gilt lettering. Jacket shallowly chipped along edges with a larger chip at head of spine, losing first half of Isherwood's name, tearing down flap folds, and a good bit of soiling, spotting, and toning to surface. Boards rubbed and a bit faded along edges, with some exposure and possible biopredation to cloth along edges and at spine ends, with a couple of scratches to surface. Prior owner's gift inscription, "To Philip, with love, Phil" on front free endpaper, else interior unmarked. Binding is sound.

Considerably revised edition, preceded by the 1930 Blackmore Press (London) and Random House (New York) first editions. T.S. Eliot's introduction to those volumes was replaced here by a new one from Auden.

[Westby & Brown p. 27].
