Allen St. John retaining price ($2.00); [8],300pp. Jacket significantly restored with color touch-up along front panel extremities and spine ends, verso discreetly backed though the whole rather cockled as a result; cloth corners gently bumped, spine very slightly cocked, else a Very Good copy in a bright but overly tampered-with copy of the rare jacket. Though jacket illustration unsigned, attributed to J. Allen St. John, best known for his work on the Tarzan series.
Adventure novel set amongst a group of pirates along the coast of China, inspired in part by the author's travels through China, the Philippines, Malaysia, and India as an Evening Mail correspondent. This work first serialized between 1928 and 1929 in Argosy.
