A play written by "a group of Africans... who have been in the forefront of the struggle for the freedom of their countries." The idea was launched by Frank Buchman, head of the spiritual movement, Moral Re-Armament, originally called the Oxford Group, and today known as Initiatives of Change. Buchman's idea, according to the preface, was for Freedom to rouse the conscience of the world, as Uncle Tom's Cabin had done in the United States, to help bring freedom to all men.
