Small, slim octavo (18cm.); contemporary sheep-backed marbled boards, gilt-tooled spine in six compartments, green spine onlay, marbled endpapers, original wrappers bound in; [2],xxxii,29pp.; frontispiece reproducing Poussin's "La Mort d'Adonis." Leather rather dried with brief peel at bottom of front cover, joints rubbed, tiny chip at spine crown, attractive contemporary woodcut ex libris to front pastedown, light foxing throughout textblock, else Very Good, internally sound. A lovely edition of La Fontaine's lengthy poem, though the majority of the volume devoted to Valéry's introduction.
