Presumed later state of this Trade Edition with Monroe Book Co. cancel stamp at foot of title page over faint abrasion, likely to remove the Stanton imprint. Two octavos (23.5cm.); publisher's blue pictorial cloth stamped in red, black, and gilt, floral endpapers; [2],xix,17-766pp. / mixed pagination to dummy; color frontispiece, plates and folding maps throughout. Front hinge of dummy cracked after first gathering with crack starting to trade copy at same, but all still holding. Cloth rubbed along edges, with bumping and brief exposure to corners and spine ends and some general smudging and soiling. Light finger soil to textblock. Prior owner's name (D. Herbert Clark) in pencil to verso of dummy's front free endpaper, else interior unmarked.
