St. John's themes and form are wide ranging: Texas and Ireland talk of pirates and saints; intoxication, divinity, and modes of transportation feature prominently; astrology and Satan make an appearance. Her New York Times obituary mentioned St. John as a student of religion, the occult, and metaphysics, and at the time of her death at age 39 in 1965 was working for Evyan Perfumes, Inc. Uncommon in retail and only three holdings found in OCLC.
