Both volumes full bound in contemporary mottled calf with red and brown spine labels and gilt stamping. Marbled endsheets. Both bindings generally scuffed and rubbed at all edges and spine ends with lightly foxed pages softly rippled from humidity.
First volume hinges cracked completely at front and partially at back, but threads holding well. Loss to volume label on spine. Shelf worn and dust-soiled. Endsheets toned and discolored lightly at edges with previous owner's bookplate pasted to first pastedown. Back inside hinge starting. Some pages unopened. Second volume hinges cracked only partially at both front and back. Minor loss to head of spine. Endsheets toned and discolored lightly at edges. Inside hinges starting. Green ribbon has left offsetting at pages 148-149.
