Boards rubbed along edges with a small nick to spine; corners bumped with brief exposure. Binding sound. Bookseller ticket to rear pastedown; interior else clean and unmarked. A Very Good or better copy, described by Ralph McCoy in his bibliography of the Freedom of the Press as an "autobiography of the editor of the Dubuque Herald, who was arrested ('kidnapping' he calls it) and imprisoned for three months in 1862 for writing editorials critical of the 'usurpation of power by the President [Lincoln] in time of war."
