[California?]: [ca. 1950s]. Original hand-painted plywood sign (61x121.5cm) depicting a massive and patriotic hot dog (red striped bun, star-spangled dog) on white background, captioned along top edge in blue hand-painted serifed lettering: "All American." A few small abrasions to hot dog, right-hand margin of white paint starting to peel showing old layer of yellow paint beneath, a few drill holes along top edge, verso shows a faint and much less impressive orange spray-painted sign for "Hamburger / Curly Fries," most likely from a later date than the hot dog.

Exceptional and vibrant hand-painted mid-century sign executed by an imaginative amateur (blue hot dog in a red bun?!) for a carnival food stand. Previous seller provided provenance as California.
