[Broadside] Coal, Corn, Cattle. A Few Special Investments

W.C. Chancellor: Vincennes, IN, 1900. Very Good. Item #32536

Vincennes, IN: W.C. Chancellor, n.d., ca. 1900. First Edition. Broadside flyer (28x21.5cm.) printed offset on cream laid stock. Previous folds, small chip to right-hand edge not approaching text, else Very Good.

Flyer issued by the busy Vincennes businessman and investor W.C. Chancellor, who was active in the area in the late 1890s and early 1900s. Here Chancellor proposes three sound investments in the area, including a coal mine that already has "30 dwellings and a large store. Land underlaid with three veins of coal of good quality, and mine in operation. R.R. to mine." The other investments include a corn farm in Knox County, Indiana, and a ranch in Colorado. The latter is a "Large dwelling, with hot and cold water throughout and modern conveniences." It also comes with 75 horses and 2000 head of cattle.

The conclusion of the text is the only indication of any shady activity: "Are you seeking an investment of any kind? I ask you to write me. It is my business to find you what you want. I have private lines through which to secure what you want, quietly, and present to you direct and with accuracy."
