Signed by Wilhelm with brief inscription on flyleaf, "To Nina and Hale, with love and gratitude." San Francisco-based partial epistolary novel in which the main character turns to sex work while her male lover is in prison in San Quentin. Inscriptions from the lesbian modernist writer are uncommon.
