First Edition. Two folio volumes: illustrated cloth with multi-color endpapers and ribbons; illustrated wraps with map of Spain endpapers; black and white photographs throughout the former, many fold-out; Japanese and translated English text to the latter. Housed in publisher's illustrated slipcase; additional brown cardboard slipcase open on both sides and presumably used for shipping. Mild toning and soiling to boards and wraps; brief split to front joint of wraps near crown; corners bumped; bindings sound and pages unmarked. Wear to illustrated slipcase but still remains structurally sound; cardboard shipping case roughly worn but remains intact; Very Good overall. Signed by Narahara in Japanese on front free endpaper.

Scarce early signed work by the noted Japanese photographer - an investigation and celebration of Spain, which he visited in the summers of '62 and '63, giving the young artist "much more exhilaration than I expected," and for him acting as "a key to the fragrance of the sun."
