About John Cage

N.p. s.i., 1970. Very Good. Item #34012

N.p.: s.i., [ca. 1970s]. Presumed First Edition. Two corner-stapled foolscap leaves (35.5cm); xeroxed from typescript accomplished in manuscript. Moderate wrinkling and toning, old fold lines, else Very Good.

Evidently unrecorded study by the musician and musical theorist Philip Corner, borrowing text by Cage (reproduced from typescript) and adding his comments (reproduced from manuscript). Corner and Cage were occasional collaborators, including on the record "Ear Gardens." In a recent interview Corner described learning of Cage's death while he was staying in Europe in 1992: "A friend of mine said, 'Now that Cage is dead, it's probably you' and I said 'No, no, no, if there's anyone who's number one it's certainly Pauline [Oliveros]'" (Tone Glow Substack's interview with Corner).
