Early uncorrected proof copy in generic publisher's wrappers of the Saint Lucian poet's first work published outside of the Caribbean--another proof copy featuring the dust jacket art was issued later. Thirty years later Walcott was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, in 1992.
