Catherine Liu’s curatorial project attempted to dispel the myth of the male genius, macho artist, or “Master.” Drawing upon history and pop culture alike, her introduction asserts “The woman artist has had to not only negotiate with hysteria as a functional position, she has had to deal with the moralizing ethic that would have her be the perfect exemplar, a careful technical, or a political pedagogue.” Striking design.
