Laid in program to the author's memorial in 2009, which describes "The Harder They Fall" as a "scorching exposé of the crime-infested world [Schulberg] loved more than all others, the 'sweet science' of boxing." Among the speakers listed were Spike Lee, Pete Hamill, and Ben Stiller.
"The Harder They Fall" was Schulberg's second novel and served as the basis for the 1956 film of the same title directed by Mark Robson and starring Humphrey Bogart.
