Original dustjacket with $5.95 price; book in mustard paper-covered boards with black cloth spine and gilt lettering. Jacket shows a few small chips and tears along edges, with a small dampstain along bottom edge visible from interior. Boards bumped at corners and spine ends with some toning and smudging. Small dampstain at bottom of front free endpaper. A few pages with some spotting and smudging, but no marks. Binding is sound.

Signed by the author without inscription on full title. Kowet's account, written under pseudonym, of his two years working as a caseworker in the New York City Department of Public Welfare.
