Octavo (22cm); contemporary half calf over marbled paper-covered boards, spine in six compartments with red and black gilt-lettered onlays, all edges stained red, marbled endpapers; xi,[1],368pp.; chromolithographed frontispiece. Leather rather dried and rubbed along margins, smallish loss to bottom fore-edge corner of rear free endpaper, else Very Good, internally clean and sound.
The Manchester historian and author's final travelogue, an impressionistic portrait of British Cyprus written in the immediate present tense. The voyage, however, left Dixon an invalid--he broke his shoulder falling from a horse and died less than a year after this work saw publication.
