In "Woman on Fire," Shurin's first published book, he explores drag and gender themes. San Francisco poet Steve Abbott once wrote that this poem “advanced the idea of drag as a revelation, not a mask, of personality.” Signed with inscription by the author on the dedication page: "For Steven, from Aaron, 1975."
