First Edition. 12mo (17.5cm); publisher's sheep over decorative block-printed paper-covered boards; xi,[1],154pp. (collated complete); woodcut illus., six steel-engraved tables printed on two folding plates bound in rear. Boards a bit scuffed and rubbed, textblock a bit toned and foxed, else a Very Good and sound example. Ownership inscription to front free endpaper, "This is the property of Thomas Ott / December 25. 1824."
Very nice copy of this German-American guide to surveying for the farmer, including chapters on masonry, measuring tree trunks, and testing wine and brandy. This copy retains the beautiful original binding displaying a block-printed design of blue and red geometrical design of leaves and flowers on a yellow background. The plates in the rear were engraved by C.F. Egelmann after Villee's designs.
