Berkshire, [NY?]: Eaton, Crane & Pike Co., ca. 1920s. Original pictorial paper-covered lidded box (13.5x21.5x2.5cm) containing twenty-three (of twenty-four) color pictorial bifolium card invitations (12.5x10cm) and twenty-one (of twenty-four) envelopes (6.5x10cm). The cards and envelopes are additionally bound with pictorial wrap-around bands (one of them broken but still present). Box a bit worn and toned, contents unevenly browned, though still a Very Good, attractive if incomplete set.

Adorable collection of party invitations housed in a box adorned with the illustration of a little girl lifting up her baby sibling to the mailbox. The cards all feature the same illustration of an outdoor children's party with fruit bowl and games. The text, with blanks provided for details, state "I am going to have a party on [...] from [...] until [...] o'clock and I want very much for you to come [...] Please let me know." The wraparound bands depict a small child watching a black cat chase away a goose that has stolen the invitation. The only fault is that the envelopes are half the size as the invitations themselves.
