Two large octavo volumes; photo-illustrated dust jackets over navy cloth boards stamped in gilt; top edges gilt; 400; 436pp. Illustrations and maps, some fold-out. Housed in publisher's slipcase. Unclipped dust jackets show a couple minor nicks and couple longer tears along edges of volume I; sunning to spines. Boards show mild shelfwear; bindings sound; previous owner's bookplates to preliminaries. Publisher's box worn along edges with splits to extremities and stain to top edge; overall a well-preserved, Very Good set.

Pershing served as Commander-in-Chief of the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I, where he also mentored the men who lead the Allies in World War II, such as Eisenhower, Bradley, Patton, and MacArthur.
