Small, thick octavo (18.5cm); early 20th century gilt-lettered crimson and navy blue morocco, spine in five compartments, marbled endpapers; [16],936,[22]pp.; woodcut illus. throughout. Some rubbing to leather extremities, scattered foxing to textblock, retaining original front free endpaper with notes in a contemporary hand. A Very Good example overall. Text entirely in French.

Surgical textbook by the anatomist and educator Hieronymus Fabricius (ca. 1533-1619) first published in 1617 describing "techniques entirely new to that age" (Heirs to Hippocrates 366, citing the 1641 edition).
