Original painting depicting a blue man dressed all in blue, titled in yellow paint "Father Murphy [Loves Many?]." One of a series of street painting postcards produced by Beat poet and artist Jack Micheline (1929-1998). Micheline was a lifelong friend of Jack Kerouac, providing the artwork that adorned the dust jacket of the first edition of "On the Road," while Kerouac provided the introduction to Micheline's first book "River of Red Wine."
Provenance: Though unsigned, the piece is accompanied by a 2013 autograph letter from the Jack Micheline Foundation of Arts signed by its director Vince Silvaer and addressed to the late bookseller Alan Zipkin. "Hi Alan, Sorry for the delay. As promised, here is the Micheline painting."
