Uncommon history and brief biographies of the women that helped in the war for Chilean Independence (approx. 1810-1823). Mercedes Fuentecilla, Ana Maria Cotapos, and Paula Jaraquemada are among those profiled. When pressed by a Spanish Captain for access to her storehouse, Jaraquemada refused, declaring that only she gave orders in her house. When further pressed, she took a soldier's bayonet and placed it in the center of her chest, saying that she would rather die than accept the order.
