Tokyo: [s.i.], 1937. Limited edition of 100 copies. Octavo; string-tied wraps; [8], 5, [1]pp. Two photographs with tissue guards. Light wear and toning to edges; binding sound; pages unmarked.
One of a series of translations and summaries into French of Noh plays, a classical Japanese dance-drama dating back to the 14th century. According to a contemporary article, Masuko Matsudaira undertook this project as her verbal explanations of the art were proving insufficient. Number One of an apparent series of 20, though we only find 10 titles recorded in OCLC. This title, based on the Lady Aoi from The Tale of Genji, also uncommon with three holdings in OCLC at Harvard, California Santa Barbara, and the University of Zurich.
