Old mail folds with a few closed tears to margins briefly touching text or image without loss, scattered foxing, addressed and postmarked December, 1974, to the Phoenix Book Shop on verso. A Good to Very Good example. With the manuscript request from the Poetry Project "Please Post."
The 1975 New Year's fundraising event featured poets and artists Patti Smith, Allen Ginsberg, Yoko Ono, Bernadette Mayer, Anne Waldman, Ron Padgett, Donald Hall, John Cage, Clark Coolidge, Joe Brainard...the list goes on.
Provenance: The Phoenix Book Shop, which operated in Greenwich Village from 1953 until 1988, was itself a popular hangout for the New York poetry community, publishing works by Denise Levertov, Marianne Moore, W.H. Auden, Allen Ginsberg and Elizabeth Bishop.
