Overall a Very Good copy of Fitzgerald's cynical assessment of the American Dream. Initially a commercial disappointment, the novel did receive favorable reviews upon publication, such as Lillian C. Ford of the L.A. Times who ends her review, "It leaves the reader in a mood of chastened wonder," further noting "Mr. Fitzgerald has certainly arrived."
