Horror novel by the Australian author and travel writer Mary Gaunt (1861-1942). Gaunt was one of the first women to matriculate at the University of Melbourne, though she dropped out after her first year. Determined to be financially independent through her writing, she produced novels, short story collections, and travelogues, most successfully when collaborating with John Ridgwell Essex on a series of adventure stories. "The Mummy Moves" would have been written after Gaunt settled in Italy where she remained until the outbreak of World War II.
