Includes printed catalog descriptions from two previous booksellers, the first outed as being Howard Nestler's work by the second. Quoting from (likely) Nestler, "'(the KNOW NOTHINGS were founded in NY STATE in 1849 as a political anti-Catholic secret society, which grew rapidly into a natl. org... in 1856 its Pres. candidate was Millard Fillmore.) 'They beat both Whigs & Democrats, wherever they may go, sir, and if you ask them any thing they'll answer, I don't know sir.' This is a parody, comparing the men & ladies of Phila. with the KNOW NOTHINGS. gd. ARE YOU READING THE DESCRIPTIONS CAREFULLY???"
