Four octavo volumes (22.5cm); full contemporary bespoke armorial roan with gilt-tooled coat of arms within decorative gilt ruling, gilt spines in six compartments, pale green gilt spine pieces present on Vols I and II only, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers; collated complete. Leather a bit dried and spine gilt starting to flake, else a Very Good, bright and sound set.
The author's final work, "one of the most extensive works of literary history to appear during the early Victorian period" (Oxford Dictionary of National Biography).
