[Montclair, NJ]: 1896. Original ink and watercolor illustration (41.5x31cm) glued to card mat (58x46cm). Illustration has some expert restoration to a bottom right-hand corner and along top edge from long tear, stock uniformly toned. About Very Good.
Gorgeous original artwork signed by the Montclair artist O. Rohn. This piece which garnered the artist second prize at the 1896 exhibition of Columbia bicycle posters. At head of the illustration is the slogan "Standard of the World," with a fashionably dressed "New Woman" in a puffy white shirt and tie, and a short skirt and button-up boots holding onto her bicycle with her right hand, in her uplifted left hand a promotional card for a Columbia bicycle. To her right are five additional small-format advertisements for bicycle models 40-44, all priced at $100.
