New York: Franklin Furnace, 1984. Very Good +. Item #50215 New York: Franklin Furnace, 1984. Poster (36x28cm); single-sided sheet printed in black ink. Lightly toned but largely clean with sharp corners. Creased due to previous folding with postage stamp and return address at verso. Very Good or better. Scarce. Poster promoting “first major mail art show in New York City” (ArtForum), which was on display at the Manhattan gallery and performance space Franklin Furnace. (It remained in its namesake location until 1990; Franklin Furnace now operates as an arts organization and archive in Long Island City.) The exhibition proved controversial, with critics accusing organizer Ronny Cohen of glaring curatorial oversights. “Mail Art Then and Now,’’ Thomas McEvilley, ArtForum
