The Wicked Walk tells the story of Maria, a sex worker in Dar es Salaam; her daughter from an incestuous relationship, Nancy; Deo, a factory worker in love with Nancy; and Magege, the manager there who has the means to indulge in his myriad personal desires.
Scholar Fikeni E.M.K. Senkoro writes that "Although there is no direct link made between the workers of the Mount Goat Rubber Industry and the prostitutes at Livingstone Street, one discovers in the words and slogans of the workers at the industry, that they are all one and the same. All their energies and sweat, their minds and their bodies have been and are being prostituted by the capitalist system."
