Collection of Twelve Real Photo Postcards of the Running of the Bulls in Spain
Zaragoza, Pamplona, et al. v.p., ca. 1930? Very Good. Item #7394
Zaragoza et al: v.p., ca. 1930s. Collection of twelve real photo postcards; light wear and a hint of dust-soil, else a Very Good or better collection. One example with the rubberstamp of Zaragoza photographer J. Elosúa, "Fotógrafo Taurino"; another with the rubberstamp of a Pamplona photographer (Gerardo Zaragu[?]); the remaining ten unattributed. One photograph captioned, noting the "Bello efecto de contra Luz a la salida del Callejón."
Half of the images rather exciting and disturbing action shots taken in the narrow streets during the running of the bulls, usually from the safety of an upper window, the remaining half shot from the arena as the runners and bulls enter from the city. Of the collection we could pinpoint four shots in which a bull has made contact with a runner, in some cases grievously so.
