New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1889. Very Good. Item #9750
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1889. First Edition. Octavo xviii, 416pp +4 ads. Frontis with tissue guard, plates, vignettes, and fold-out maps throughout, all present. Half green cloth and decorated red cloth. Boards bumped at corners and rubbed along edges, with some tugging and fraying to spine ends, darkening to spine, and a few general light smudges to cloth. Spine a bit cocked. Front hinge cracking at bottom with board shaky and book falling open easily between gatherings, but binding is holding. Earlier ownership inscriptions to dedication page and start of preface obscured with older correction fluid, with a few sparse marginal checks in pencil, but text all legible. Smells faintly of smoke.
