New York: The Fountain Press, 1930. Limited Edition, numbered 140 of 542 copies on colophon at back. Quarto (10" x 7.5"); 34pp. Four full-color illustrations including frontis, all present. Blue cloth-covered boards with red faux leather spine and gilt lettering. Publisher's printed slip on the play's prior printing and revision history laid in. Boards lightly rubbed at corners and more heavily down joints and at spine ends, with chipping to leather at tail of spine. Endpapers foxed, with sparse interior foxing, mostly closer to edges. A few pages rippled at fore-edge. Binding is sound and pages unmarked.

Revised version of Hardy's play, itself adapted from his story "The Three Strangers." Six or so copies of an earlier version were printed in 1893 to secure copyright, with those either deposited at the Library of Congress or given as gifts. This version was revised for a 1926 performance at Keble College, Oxford, and printed by The Merrymount Press in Boston for The Fountain Press and London's Cayme Press.
